Madeline LeBlanc, chairperson of the New Brunswick Advisory Council on the Status of Women gave an interview to the Telegraph Journal in which she announced the position of the NBACSW against having a referendum on abortion provision in the province. Instead, the NBACSW called on the Health Department to commission a study on the issue, which would, she argued, lead to less campaigning and better results. LeBlanc also suggested such a study include questions about contraceptives and sex education.
