After the Supreme Court decision in R v Morgentaler (1988), Prime Minister Brian Mulroney indicated that his government would enact new abortion legislation. Dr. Morgentaler and CARAL responded by launching a letter writing campaign. Titled “Dear Friend,” the campaign document provided sample letters, the names, addresses and phone numbers of all relevant parties (both federal and provincial), as well as a succinct overview of the issue at hand.
