Health Canada announced that it approved the RU-486 abortion pill Mifegymiso for use in Canada on July 15, 2015. Pregnant patients would need a doctor’s prescription, and it would be available for sale in Canada in late 2016. Mifegymiso was approved to terminate pregnancies of up to 49 days gestational age.
