In response to the Supreme Court decision in R v Morgentaler, the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital (DECH) in Fredericton decided to pause its Therapeutic Abortion Committee (TAC). Saint John Regional Hospital took a different approach, deciding to keep the TAC active while conducting an internal hospital discussion. In the weeks following the Supreme Court decision, access became complicated, and hospital administrators lacked direction.
