Brian Mulroney, Progressive Conservative Leader elected Prime Minister, served from 1984-1993. Mulroney was Prime Minister when the Supreme Court declared s. 251 of the Criminal Code unconstitutional in R v Morgentaler, 1988 1 SCR 30. He attempted, unsuccessfully, to introduce new abortion restrictions at the federal level.
