Following the six-month shutdown of abortion services at the Moncton Hospital, pro-choice advocates in the province saw the need for an organized opposition to the New Brunswick Right to Life Association (NBRLA) to counter the rising pressure from the pro-life movement. They formed a chapter of the leading national pro-choice organization, CARAL and the inaugural organizing meeting took place at Moncton City Hall.
